Message from Director to Alumnus / Alumna:
Dear Alumnus / Alumna,Greetings and warm regards from your Alma mater!
Since its inception in 1960 as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) and later converted into National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (An Institute of national importance by an act of the Parliament) in the year 2002, your institute has achieved significant growth in all its spheres of activities and has carved a niche for itself among the top technological institutions in the country. Our dedicated faculty and staff are engaged in imparting quality technological education and providing support to research and development activities. Your institute is committed to enhance capabilities and potential of students with the objective of transforming them into leaders in their chosen areas of interest. We take pride in our distinguished alumni who are contributing to the growth of the society, our nation and other countries. We are also proud of the fact that many of our Alumni are occupying coveted positions within India and also abroad.
In recent years, the institute has further enhanced its stature in the academic, research and outreach domains. Your institute continues to attract the most talented students from all parts of India and abroad for UG, PG and research programs and is also the most preferred institution for students. Research output has seen significant growth as evident from the large number of technical papers published by our faculty/students/scholars in reputed journals. The Institute has embarked on a campaign to strengthen networking resulting in the inking of several MoUs with Institutions and Industries of repute both from India and abroad. Your institute is actively engaged in extending service to the community through consultancy and several societal initiatives. It is a matter for all of us that NITK has been accredited under tier I category by the National Board of accreditation (NBA). All these activities have significantly improved the visibility and reputation of your Institute and thereby consistently ranked among the top technological Institutions in India. We feel proud when your institute is gearing up for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations during 2019-20, it is intended to establish a Centralised Research Facility housing State of the Art equipments and associated software with an estimated financial outlay of Rs. 200 crores in order to foster a culture of multi-disciplinary Research, Development and Innovation with a view to ushering in"New India by 2022". We look forward to your keen participation in this ambitious project by providing financial support and technical expertise to realise this research facility in the Diamond Jubilee year.
